NIGHTWAVES

To quote someone else, “The song/video pretty much sums up everything we love about warm weather — carefreeness, windows down, youth, first loves, long days. All that.”…Amen. Plus NightWaves & TNUC party together in real life.

This upcoming Monday, NightWaves will be celebrating their single + video release of ‘Sweet Carrie’ with a bash of their own at the Dragonfly in Hollywood. Come drench yourself in a colossal mass of dreamwave then wake up the next morning and purchase the single which will be available just for you.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION.

Spring break is among us. That means its time to drop the textbooks and pick up the iron. Before you know it, summer will be here and the beaches will be calling your name. And when I say beaches, I mean the little foxes. And when I say little foxes, I mean the hardbodies! It’s time to get off that bean-bag chair and get into motion.

During the winter months of the year, I typically delve into a TNUC-style hibernation, remaining in a dormant state locked inside TNUC Laboratories. It’s here that I perform my duties as the ‘keymaster’ and when I have time, craft different projects such as the upcoming TNUC signature bathrobes.

Then, spring season rolls around. Personally, my physical education this time of year consists of a hard-disciplined diet of raw shark meat and grapefruit. Lets hope the following song becomes the motivational tool that makes you throw on the Muscle Beach cut-off-belly sweatshirt and grab that jump rope. Stream the song then download it by clicking the down-arrow on the right. If you can last through 9 minutes and 10 seconds of this, I applaud you.

Note: Be sure to wear something comfortable yet dominating when pumping iron this season.

CUT LOOSE + MAD DOG.

What these two lack in intelligence, they make up for in a deep passion for beer, ice hockey and all things METAL. In last years Anvil! The Story of Anvil we were introduced to a gruesome twosome by the names of Cut Loose + Mad Dog. As they mention in the clip, their dying devotion to their favorite band went so far that in 1987, Anvil wrote songs dedicated to the two legends, aptly titled ‘Cut Loose’ and ‘Mad Dog’.

These guys are misplaced vikings. They should be storming some medieval battlefield, with shield in one hand and a blade in the other, fighting for freedom. Instead, they’re storming a Canadian dive bar, with a beer in one hand and a beer in the other, fighting for their heavy metal heroes, Anvil.

“I’D RATHER BE A KING BELOW,
THAN A SERVANT ABOVE
I’D RATHER BE FREE AND HATE,
THAN A PRISONER OF LOVE
SIX, SIX, OH SIX…………SIX.”

If you’d like to further your quest into the hearts of these diehards, pick up Anvil’s 1987 release ‘Strength of Steel’, which features the aforementioned songs.

THE SOUND OF SEAGULLS.

OK, we’ll give George Michael a pat on the back for coming up with the initial saxophone riff to this song while he was on a bus ride home from a radio station interview, but full credit must go to saxophonist Steve Gregory who laid down the final product. So George, hang out in your favorite gas station bathroom for a bit.

Today we’re focusing on the instrumental version of ‘Careless Whisper’. Doing this ensures nothing but high-flying saxophone and a sultry beat. Listening to this song brings people many different feelings and images. Weather its the vision of soaring seagulls, or maybe dipping a loved one in a lusty bath of honey, this track should wash some very strong emotions over you. So gentlemen, lock eyes with the nearest woman in the room, throw on your best pair of white slacks and sock-less boat shoes and dance with her to the polished rhythms. Preferably on a yacht.

WAY SLOWER.

c3940-hand
The powers behind the Brooklyn, NY outfit Games remain mysterious to me. What data I have gathered behind this project is that they like it slow. In fact, they like it so slow that they’ve created a home for their sludgy, slower-than-molasses style disco on a tumblr site called Way Slower. Not only that, but these lovers of leisure have created a mix entitled ‘Heaven Can Wait – Mixtape Vol. 1’, which gradually takes classic italo/euro-disco hits down a long corridor and mutates them into massive, slow epics.

The mix could have been the background music to Buffalo Bill’s transsexual dungeon of paradise BEFORE we got to hear Q Lazzarus’s ‘Goodbye Horses’ in The Silence of the Lambs. But don’t let that creep you away now. This mix is magic…

1. SANDRA – HEAVEN CAN WAIT
2. KATY GRAY – HOLD ME TIGHT
3. VALERIE DORE – THE NIGHT
4. VOYAGERS – DISTANT PLANET
5. SANDRA – MARIA MAGDALENA
6. ANSWERING MACHINE – CALL ME MR. TELEPHONE
